SelfCareOde

By Keith Edward Torkelson, MS

Vis-à-vis I like to share

A mind

I seem to have a spare

It fits quite nicely in a square

I’m safe and cared for in my lair

3 times a day

For daily prayer

That’s their and there

How’s your SelfCare?

20151101: Aside – Calendar Contest Winner

This version was selected by a panel of judges to appear in the 2016 Health Care Agency funded Behavioral Health Calendar.  Sometime around summer of 2016 I will release the full version.  Obviously, it takes SelfCare to heal: Mentally, physically, and spiritually.  Concept: If an individual (or group of individuals) require “too much” SelfCare you (they) likely qualify as seriously and persistently at risk and/or ill.  I’m hoping that is not you-all-at-ALL.

An Ode to Self Care

By Keith Edward Torkelson, MS – New and Improved – May 30, 2015

I really appreciate open air

My soul right now I will lay bare

I have a friend and she’s a bear

My music now a day I do not blare

I’d really like a cushier chair

I lived with others and a gal name Claire

I do and sometimes I do dare

At times I make a rather rare err

Events about are much more fair

Cause I’m leveling more of my fare

I have my lab coat returned to wear

Daily - I also enjoy meds that flare

My eyes they used to stare and glare

At present I have at least – one - treasured heir

I’m safe and cared for in my lair

Laptops – they & those - I have a pair

I set 3 times a day for my prayer

My thoughts at times are still quite rare

Yet basically

I remain easy to scare

Vis-à-vis I like to share

Even when I’m caught, trapped or snared

A mind I seem to have a spare

It fits quite nicely in a square

I stood atop-atop the stair

Up there I really never swear

Thousands of papers I’ve slated to tear

Their-There & They’re & There

My principles show times of ware

Now I ask U – How’s your Self-Care?

SafetyNetSolutions

We get

Try and let

The day We met

Now We are set

Breaking a sweat

Smother a threat

Never forget

Still not yet?

Never regret

Reframe and reset

What’s unmet?

Less upset

You better you bet

Our families deserve an award

For making it possible

For us to suit up

And show up

For sticking it out

When we’ve lost hope

For doing their best
