Keith “Buster”
Torkelson MS traversed the distance when it came to nutrition and poultry
nutrition. In sum he succeeded with more
than ten (10) units of nutrition courses.
He also put in volunteer time working with diet formulation, creation,
distribution and implementation. Online
we find on this day residual indication that a substantial portion of the
peoples’ of Earth have inadequate foodstuffs.
Back in winter quarter of 1987 Buster took a course offered by the world
class University of California @ Davis Department of Epidemiology and
Preventative Medicine. The course was
World Food Population Problem. The
professor was Dr Calvin “Cal” Schwabe.
The nature and overarching theme of this class was disease centered
problem solving. Malnutrition is a
preventable condition! With help Dr
Schwabe authored the textbook: Veterinary Medicine and Human Health (3rd
Edition). He asked his students make an
elegant promise: “Think Global while acting local”. World Wafers is Buster’s demonstration of a
promise to a man – Calvin Schwabe - The Father of Veterinary Epidemiology. We have renamed our World Wafer Movement
(WWM): Salmon-Schwabe World Wafers.
