Narrative Reunion (2019)

Major Milestone – Summer Reunion

During Saturday and Sunday August 3^rd and 4^th 2019 a significant portion of our family had a reunion. It took place at our number 3 sisters’ house north of Reno Nevada. The approximate number of people that showed was thirty (30). One clan and several houses where represented. Keith Edward Torkelson, MS was the only representative of Clan of Tork. To be a member of the Torkel Clan one has to carry the “y” gene of The Torkel. The Torkel is Keith’s great grandfather. The Houses represented were The House Of: Brinsko, Lisa, Kline, Litzau, and Anderson. The House of Fein did not send a representative. For Keith to make a showing it was quite an endeavor. Keith began his reunion journey at John Wayne Airport in Orange County California. He had a little trouble at security because he failed to take all belongings out of his pockets. He flew Southwest Airlines to San Jose. His ticket cost about $60 on way. The flight was uneventful. At San Jose airport his brother-in-law Charles S Kline PhD picked him up. Doctor CS Kline is credited with participating in sending the first online over a network message.

Keith was fortunate enough to stay for free at his older sister Lanaii’s house in Los Altos California. He set up office in the back yard. For dinner Charley and Lanaii served filet mignon. Keith very rarely is rewarded with “Filet”. On July 30 Keith AKA Buster met up with two UC Davis friends Earl Rennison and Lawrence D Chan. From the Millbrae station Keith rode BART to the 24^th & Mission station in San Francisco. Using his Smart Phone Keith called Lawrence who said meet me on Valencia Street. Earl, Lawrence and Keith enjoyed Mexican food and conversation at a joint on Valencia Street. Lawrence and Earl discussed volleyball because each has a daughter with substantial volleyball potential. Keith shared with them both about his Housing Advisory Board idea. Lawrence updated Keith and Earl about the pharmaceutical his team is developing. The new product will help combat Kidney Disease. This will probably be the last time Keith Edward Torkelson MS sees Earl and Lawrence in person.

After spending the night at the Kline Group’s house Lanaii, Charley and Keith headed off for a non-stop drive to Reno. After arriving in Reno they met quite a few relatives at a public pool in downtown. They had a pizza party. Keith proceeded into the casino next door to the pool with the intent on gambling. He had $140 to spend. On the way to gambling Keith was fortunate enough to sing two songs with the house band. After singing he made his way to a $5 minimum Black Jack Table. Even though he had a good run with black jacks he only walked away with $70. This venture will be Keith’s last table gambling for he now has it out of his system. By the time he returned to the pool it was getting a bit dark. At the pool Keith’s niece Ahnika was sporting a mighty catchy poke-a-dot swimsuit. Candace and Keith took off in Candace’s car north to The House of Brinsko Rattlesnake Ranch. Keith was fortunate in the he was invited to stay at “The Ranch” for free.

Buster’s AKA Keith’s number three sister Candace owns and operates quite a unique property north of Reno Nevada. She and her husband Dave “Brinsko” purchased it somewhere around twenty (20) years ago. They have their own well and pet cemetery on the property. They have a great guest room and all kinds of toys to play with. In general Busters favorite person to hang out with is “Brinsko”. David runs a Chukar [SPELLED] Partridge Operation (CPO). He took time to explain “The Chukar Works” to Buster. Buster AKA Keith took Game Birds at UC Davis and tries to help David from time to time. Yet obviously David now knows more than Keith. When Buster was there he saw several lizards yet no Rattlesnakes. In another life Keith would be running a hardware store down the road from “The Ranch” near Pyramid Highway. This was Keith’s father’s master plan before he passed away in 1999.

There we about seven kids and three adolescents in attendance. The kid’s were great because Buster brought gifts for all of them. Buster had a younger sister named Lisa. Lisa had three girls: Brittany, Melissa, and Gabrielle. Lisa passed away and Candace has stepped up to be their step-like mother person. Gabrielle’s family is the only one that Buster remembers well. Gabrielle married Jason Kargl. Both of them beget [SPELLED] Austin and then Jarret. Brittany adopted a very charming little girl. Melissa is a schoolteacher. Melissa associates with two young gentlemen. Erik and Stephanie Kline were also in attendance. With them they brought their son Aaron-George (AGK). Keith did not transact much with Erik, Stephanie or Aaron-George because he gets to see them more often than the others. Keith E Torkelson, MS is currently working on the third installment of the AGK Library of Wonderful Memories. Keith’s number two sister (B 1950) Sharon brought her two adopted boys Chase and Andrew. Chase is quite an interesting individual. Andrew the younger of the two was on the move. Andrew enjoys interacting with living things such as lizards and toads. Melissa’s charges, two young men, have quite the stern demeanor.

David Brinsko

David AKA “Brinsko” is Candace’s husband. Together they build Rattlesnake Ranch. We feature David because he did so much for the kids. He took Melissa’s oldest to the target range where they shot a 22 caliber rifle. He walked about with Buster (sort of a kid) answering questions and sharing information. He chaperoned the kids to Pyramid Lake. He exampled one of the pot belly stoves to Buster. Together Buster and David set up equipment for the two days of partying. David has always been nice to Buster. Candace Keith’s number three (B 1952) sister put Keith to work like the good old days: Cleaning, washing, leaf blowing, vacuuming, cooking, etc. It is important to note that Keith’s second oldest (B 1949) brother and fourth oldest (B 1955) sister were not invited. Keith feels that this Reunion 2019 will be the last chance to get everyone, The Torks', together.

The super-family had three days of eating together. The first as we already mentioned was a pizza pool party in Reno. We went through an enormous amount of food. Buster helped cook the taco beef. As we mentioned Candace put Buster to work doing various chores. The Torks’ grew up on Mc Daniel Drive in Garden Grove California. In the day - circa 1967 - Candace was the task master over Christine and Keith. Candace let Keith stay free of charge in The Brinsko Guest Bed (TBGB). Keith slept two nights in TBGB. He enjoyed two great nights’ sleep. During the course of the Reunion Keith spent about an hour or more with each of the thirty (30) or so people. Keith set up his office in the garage to get some work done. Impossible! Keith has an older cousin Karen that represents the Anderson Clan. Karen and Keith talked a bit. Keith updated Karen about the latest animated features he has been watching and some old. Keith discovered that he was moved by the love stories in the cartoons. For example, the challenging relationship with Lisa Hayes and Rick Hunter from Robotech. Chase introduced Keith to new music called Black MIDI. We have included a link to it below

And in the end the love you find is equal to the love you send. The Brinsko’s own a four-wheeler (quad). The 4 wheeler was the hit for the kids. Yet Buster wanted his go at it. On the last day David took Buster 4 wheeling. The route included climbing up some of two hundred feet. Buster admits his adrenaline was pumped. The Brinsko’s own a pet cemetery on their property. The Brinskos' favor Labrador Retriever dogs. Somewhere around six dogs are buried in the cemetery. The dogs have some very nice stone markers. Near the end of the get together they all took a family photo. Yet they picked the wrong camera. The picture is not a clear as it could have been. This will probably be the last time Buster sees all the people again in one place. Austin is Gabby’s daughter and Brisa is Brittany’s daughter. Austin and Brisa are two of the most charming girls ever. We end here by addressing the sculpture. Years ago now Keith started a hobby he calls Tork Stacks Rocks (TSR). He created a sculpture and gifted it to Candace. It was really designed to go into the pet cemetery. Candace says it is under a cactus now. Buster tried to dig a bit under the center of the cactus to bring up a chunk of sculpture. We have to assume that the sculpture is Missing In Action (MIA). Well after all the Rattlesnake festivities concluded it was off with The Kline’s back to the Bay Area.

On Monday August 5^th, 2019 Keith’s older sister Lanaii, her husband Charley, and Buster set out to return back to Los Altos by car. Lanaii was driving. On the way back using I-80 they ran into a semi-truck on fire and Lanaii opted to get off the highway for some back road driving. Lanaii had agreed to stop in Davis for lunch. Buster was a UC Davis student from 1982-1993. Buster had not been back to Davis since leaving in 1993. On the way home in 1993 Buster had a horrific and near fatal car accident on I-5. Together the Kline Party stopped at Crepeville. Buster had some unfinished business with Davis and Crepes. Crepeville has some 862 Google Reviews. Crepeville averages 4.5 Google Stars. Crepeville is located at: 330 3rd St, Davis, CA 95616. For Buster it was unexpectedly pleasant to be in Davis once more. Lanaii and Charley live in Los Altos California. The group arrived back in Los Altos before dark. Keith resumed his work. It is easier to work at the Kline’s as compared to the Brinsko’s.

Charley Keith’s brother-in-law dropped Keith off at the airport in San Jose. Keith’ Return flight was with Southwest Airlines. This time Keith again had a run in with security. The imaging machine flagged one of his pockets. At this point Keith felt like a Person Of Interest (POI). The flight was uneventful. After arriving back at his point of origin John Wayne Airport Keith went to get his car. For seven days parking the fare was around $105. Keith went home to where he lives at Shanks’ Truck Stop in Santa Ana California. Buster had become a bit paranoid with thinking he had done something to be a POI. In less than a month this paranoia passed.
