Dedication
This is dedicated to all Battleship Mariners.  We really don’t want to kill, maim or injure others like us just doing their jobs.  Define Maim – To wound or injure (someone) so that part of the body is permanently damaged.  We do want to defend ours at all costs and under any circumstances from being harmed. Doing our duties to God and Country.  My father George Gerald Torkelson (B 1922 D 1989) served aboard the USS Colorado (BB45) from 1943-1945.  They supported maybe even spearheaded about twelve major conflicts in the Pacific Ocean. He was assigned or selected Division M – Main Engines.  Main Engine areas are not on the BB61 (USS Iowa) tour at the present time.  That is why I valued the Off Tour Video.  We can never tour the real thing because BB45 was scrapped sometime around my birth in 1959.  With this posting I now promote myself to Battleship History Specialist Grade (Actually I am a retired GS-5).  A Lesson Learned – Free steam kills in lower decks.  From personal experience I know steams potential for harm.  In graduate school I had a routine for about one (1) week of rushing the autoclave.  My philosophy was if you can open the autoclave door it is ready.  On the last occasion of rushing it I rushed it the most and an invisible heat wave of about 200 degrees Fahrenheit rushed out and overtook me. I was lucky I didn’t inhale it.
Maybe someday with the photographs I will go back and label with some of my impressions

20161111-F: Aside - Density
One day circa 1978 I was jet skiing in Long Beach harbor.  I had the Queen Mary on my right and a Greek cargo ship on my left.  I decided it would be cool to sound the water line of the cargo ship.  It pinged as an immovable object.  I’ve found that Iron based materials have a ping closet to concrete yet denser in a way.  So when I went aboard the USS Iowa I was sounding everything.  Parts of the ship such as the Battle Bridge pinged crazy with density.
