Abuse Report – Fountain Valley Town Center Security Guard for Dan Owens CPM for OC Investments & Management

Testing Our Methods

One of the reasons we are taking an indirect approach to resolving Keith “Buster” Torkelson’s issue with a security guard is that it helps us develop our marketing skills. It the ultimate target for this study, Dan Owens, see this he can email us anytime with an apology, statement that there will be no further problems and an invite to contact by phone anytime.  We will leave this on the web because it represents a good study on elder abuse.  In addition some law firm might see it and find cause for legal intervention.

Justice for All

We were encouraged by Justice for All and Victim’s Assistance to share our experiences with the person roaming Fountain Valley Town Center (FVTC).  This perpetrator that we will call Weird Tom harassed and bullied Keith “Buster” Torkelson on numerous occasions.  Coming up on 63 years of age, Buster is on the cusp of becoming an elderly adult.  He really doesn’t have time to follow up on all of the challenges he faces.  Yet the harassment at FVTC is recurrent.  One of the FVTC center’s security guards has threatened and harassed him.  We find that Buster is a victim of abuse.  He has always been treated with the respect he deserves by all merchants that he frequents in the center.  Buster has had good encounters with a couple of the other FVTC security guards.  Buster just wants reasonable protection from said harassing security guard.  We need in writing that our car will not be towed under any circumstances.  The guard indicates that he is acting on behalf of corporate.  Again, for the purpose of this study let us call the guard Weird Tom.  We would like prompt conclusion of this issue.  The date is March 4, 2022 (F).

2/19/22 (SAT) – A Day in the Life

This morning Keith “Buster” Torkelson visited the Fountain Valley Town Center (FVTC) in Fountain Valley California.  Buster is an aging male in his sixties and has been around The OC since 1961. Fountain Valley has long been a city in The OC that he enjoyed.  For the majority of his time spent in and around Fountain Valley he felt secure in his body and property.  This morning he picked up his altered coat from his tailor (Basic Tailor) that operates in FVTC.  Gradually Buster is feeling a bit more secure with doing business in FVTC.  Yet he is not secure enough to spend much time performing multiple tasks such as: Buying groceries at Albertsons, using the AIM copy center, and working at Starbucks as he was before 2020.

2020

Winter quarter of 2020 not only marked the onset of COVID related illnesses it marked a point in time when Buster began to feel less secure to do business within Fountain Valley Town Center (FVTC).  It wasn’t so much COVID as another type of sickness.  Harassment!  During winter quarter 2020 while many were just beginning to adjust to the emerging COVID centered lifestyle the FVTC security guard we call Weird Tom targeted Buster and a few of his Asian friends to basically leave the lot.  We all asked Weird Tom: Where should we park?  The guard said: “Nowhere there is only one hour parking here”.  We knew this to be a fib.  Yet, we all disbursed.  Before we could regroup in the two (2) or three (3) hour parking COVID causes our Starbucks at FVTC to close down.

Just Go Away

As life was progressing towards Spring Quarter 2020 the majority of the places Buster frequented on the lot remained closed.  Buster had hoped that the guard would just go away and he could return to moving and shopping freely at Fountain Valley Town Center (FVTC).  All of the other guards on the lot seem to like Buster.  After things started opening up again Buster would briefly drop in here and there to do business.  Yet he still didn’t feel comfortable leaving his car for long.  Let us say an hour and a half in the two (2) hour parking.

Secure Enough to Park for an Hour in a Two Hour Spot

More than a year after the initial altercation with Weird Tom the Security Guard (WTSG) Buster felt secure enough to go purchase coffee from Starbucks and return to work in his car for about an hour.  About 15 minutes into work he felt the return of uneasiness.  About 5 minutes later he is startled with Weird Tom (WTSG) looking in his car window.  Buster opens the car do and the guard starts saying things like you have been watched on camera and the people behind the camera say: “You have been here too long”.  WTSG implies he is speaking for corporate (property management).

Paper Trial – Proper Documentation

Weird Tom fails to provide any documentation such as a business card.  Buster said I just bought my coffee and I have not been here even and hour yet.  Guard says you are in one hour parking and the tow truck is on its’ way.  Buster was sitting down in the back seat of his car and the guard was standing too close for Buster to feel safe getting up out of his car and standing.  Eventually the guard backed off a bit and Buster collected his things and went driving around the lot looking for information.  One the sign said Buster was in the two (2) hour parking.  Next, Buster went looking for a sign with property management information on it.  He found what he needed in the back alley behind Albertsons.  Before he could get the information he needed the guard was back stalking him.  The date was September 8, 2021.

Albertson’s Buster’s FAV

Due to its’ convenient location Albertsons was our favorite grocery store.  We don’t feel comfortable shopping for long or much because we fear we will cross paths with Weird Tom the security guard.

20220302-W: Update

On March 2, 2022 (W), Buster took the risk and visited upon Starbucks and the AIM copy center.  It worked out good so he came back for a refill of Starbucks and a little grocery shopping.  While walking across the lot to Albertsons he saw Weird Tom sitting in the golf cart playing with his phone.  Over the course of the next half hour Buster drank his coffee in view of Weird Tom.  Weird Tom just sat there the term playing with his phone.  Weird Tom’s behavior will not negatively influence our Yelp rating for Albertsons.  Wow! Albertsons has a poor Yelp Rating for some reason.

We here at Mentalation Solutions Group (MSG) ran several assessments about Buster and Weird Tom.  Most of them focus on abuse.  One of them was to assess virtues and virtuosity.  We withhold the majority of our findings.  Here we will share the virtue results first.  We decided to throw the Crime Screener results at the end in the appendix.

20210902-TH: Notation about feeling un-safe at FV Annex

After the September 8, 2021 altercation we decided to take our processing up a notch by addressing some quantifiable assessments focusing about abuse.  The only results we will share here in this study is our Virtue Assessment Tool Version Boy Scouts of America (VAT-BSA).

Regards: Inappropriate Behavior – Security Guard
Bottom Line - Our Goal

On the last altercation, the security guard in question would not provide his name.  Thus we call him Weird Tom based on his behavior.  In the end we hope that Buster can feel safe and secure doing business at the Fountain Valley Town Center (FVTC) site again.  We would prefer that Buster never see the security guard we call Weird Tom again.  We would like a note from property management to put in the car window including a no tow order.  We want a written notice from property management that Buster was welcome as he was in the past.  Buster needs to feel again that he can move freely about Fountain Valley a city that he has loved since he was at kid.  Our goal is that Buster will feel completely comfortable beginning Spring Quarter 2022.  All the other FVTC establishments such as the tailor, copy center, Albertsons, and Denny’s have welcomed Buster back post COVID.  Why not now make the call to Dan?  At this time Buster is too intimidated to make the call.  It is safer that he ask for help with this intervention in writing.  After a bit we plan to send letters to Dan via snail mail and email.  We have waited for Weird Tom to be terminated for inappropriate behavior with others.  As far as we can tell Weird Tom pretty much only acts out with Buster.

Why wait so long?

One again: Why did we wait so long to voice these concerns?  After years of comfort Buster felt uncomfortable spending much time on the lot called Fountain Valley Town Center (FVTC).  After more than a year Buster had hoped Weird Tom the security guard would just go away.  Then on September 9, 2021 Buster decided to increase his time spent at FVTC.  And who shows up more harassing than ever: Weird Tom the Security Guard (WTSG).  This time amongst other harassing behaviors Weird Tom says a tow truck is on its way to tow Buster’s car.  Now today, March 4, 2021 (F) we feel more than ever we need to reach out to property management for an intervention.  In other words, we here at Mentalation Solutions Group (MSG) are asking for help on behalf of Buster.  Buster really doesn’t feel safe and secure doing routine business as he used to at FVTC.

Intervention – OC Investments

At his point we think it best for Buster that Weird Tom the Security Guard (WTSG) is terminated.  Weird Tom says he was and is acting on behalf of corporate.  Yet he failed to provide Buster any tangible information including his name.  We are asking for help on behalf of the older adult victim Keith “Buster” Torkelson MS.  Corporate appears to be OC Investments & Management.  For WTSG an appropriate thing would have been to give Buster a business card from the person in authority.  On OCs’… website they indicate that Dan Owens CPM is the single point contact.  We have specified some of Buster’s needs earlier on.  Overall we want Buster to return to freely move about Fountain Valley while doing business and socializing.  Buster used to feel comfortable doing his business at Fountain Valley Town Center with the following merchants: Starbucks, Albertsons, AIM Copy Center, Basic Tailor, Denny’s, and the thrift store.  All but the Tailor can be replaced.

Intentional Harm

When our frustrations as outlined in this paper finally reach the proper level we know things will be made right.  If things are not made right any further problems with this lot will come from a position of knowing and the powers that be are causing Intentional Harm.

When I’m 63

Officially Buster is not an elder at age 65.  So this would qualify and general abuse or abusing an older adult.
