20210916-W:

Buster signed on with Facebook back in 2016.  Before 2016 friends would be those with which he engaged via the following transactions: Face-to-face, on the phone, via letters, via cards, by email, etc.  Facebook calls you Facebook associates friends.  We call them Facebook Friends.  As of September 16, 2021 (W) Buster has 75 active Facebook Friend Requests.  In addition he has 165 Facebook Friends.  With the majority of his Facebook Friends he only briefly touched bases.  His close Facebook Friends number about 10 peoples.

Touching Bases

One of the benefits of using Facebook was that it gave Buster and his Aunt (Joyce Maxine Brown B1925 D2020) something new in common to talk about.  In some five odd years Buster has touched bases with about 165 people.  Without Facebook he probably would not have exchanged with about 150 out of 165 people.  He is over the hump of dependency on Facebook.  He found it rewarding to catch up with so many people.  Facebook has helped him communicate better.  We call this In-Your-Face Talk (IYFT).

Thumbs up Dependency (TUD)

Since 2016 Buster had become dependent on getting impressions including thumbs up on Facebook.  Beginning Fall Quarter 2021 he will for the most part end his Facebook Impression Dependency (FID).  Dependency might be defined as “the state of relying on or being controlled by someone or something else”.  We have succeeded in what we hoped to get out of Facebook and will move back to leveraging our Blogs for impressions and viewership.

Brand New Day – Health Risk Assessment

Alternate Bed Resources

And near the end what makes a great friend or family member.  Buster’s insurer (2012-present) is Brand New Day HMO (BND).  At least once a year and often twice a year BND assigns to its’ members including Buster a standardized Health Risk Assessment (HRA).   One of the items (P1) asks: “Is there a friend, relative, or neighbor who would take care of you for a few days if necessary”.  As of today September 24, 2021 (F) Buster has no one committed in advance on deck that could offer a respite and a bed.  This is were a great friendship really matters.  We only have one friend that is in a position to help us out for a couple of days.  This friend would be Gerard G.  Gerard G. has had Buster overnight at his house three times now.  A practical stay would be one week.  If it were family a practical stay would be one month.
