Rational for Associating with “The County” (OCHCA)
Now that our County Gig is up (December 22 (Friday), 2017) we wonder if it: Is a wise use of our time to continue helping them (OCHCA) out?  Some of the rewards the OCHCA and MHSA given us have been for us quite impressive.  Since 2009 when they (OCHCA) picked us up as a formal Volunteer we have made and observed many a colleague and friend come and go.  Others that were in positions before we got there just plain went.  To list a few: Chau, Refowitz, Dorman, Pavich, and Robles.  We have been offered a few positions.  At one point Mark Refowitz said prepare an elevator speed and that he could mediate our hiring.  To get placed on the MHSA Technology Advisory Committee (TAC) we interviewed once with Team Pavich, Kate.  In the end we asked our Technological Need Supervisor (TNS) to train us in tandem while she trained the need to know staff on the full operation and support for the OCHCA’s Cerner Electronic Health Record System.  A gal up North in Napa had devised her own Job Description (Problem Solving Approach) of what she called a “SuperUser”.  For various reasons including Confidentiality issue we fell short in our training.

B+’s For All
To keep it simple we give ourselves B+s for all skill and resource sets except Technology were our last supervisor rewarded us with an A+.

Clinical Experience
The most hours we have devoted to Clinical were with Animals in numerous roles assisting Licensed Veterinarians.  We define clinical experience as actually touching the client for their betterment.  At one point we put in hours as a dedicated Cat Bather.  So because we avoid touching people to the best of our ability we only put in Clinical time with our family and Most Significant Other (MSO).  In Assessment Based Social Pathology there is no need to touch our clients.  We provide a huge array of services for the serious and persistently (mentally) ill such as Housing, Food, Medication Management (Minded Medication, 2018) and Transportation.

Laboratory Experience [Separate]

We looked back at our Curriculum vitae finding some major formatting annoyances.  We have planned to touch it up yet still have not found the time to Tweak It back in ORDER.  To sum it up we have substantial experience in both Research and Clinical Labs.

Boundaries
As far as professional boundaries such as dual relationships, conflicting interests, confidentiality, etc. receiving gifts, we do our best.  We do not have Compliance Officer Overseer anymore to process our weaknesses with.  One reason we have professional freedom is that we do not take any cash for services rendered.  We do except subsidies and non-monetary compensation for our contributions.  For example Brand New Day offers us Free Bus Passes for attendance and contribution.  As far as boundaries in fieldwork we just hope that we don’t get assaulted and or battered.  These homeless people in the field can be tricky and risky to work with.

Serious Fixes Required
When is comes to dealing with problematic clients (consumers) we use an individualized approach.  We have worked to get consumers that dropped out of or have fallen behind on their Treatment Plan(s) return on track.  Some of the service providers for which these friends of ours are or have been served are:  HCA @ OCJ, Kaiser P, Brand New Day, HealthNet, CalOptima, the Long Beach VA, OC VA Services, the OCHCA-BHS Clinics, School Ten, etc.  We just meet with them in person and triage for their top three (risks).  If we can intervene we do so free of charge.  Our success rate is remarkable for the fact that we are picking up after under or inappropriate service.  As far as substance use is concerned we just listen to see if they are talking any of “the talk”.  One of our last interventions ended in our friend jumping to his death of an OC (local) freeway bridge.

Biopsychosocial Management Systems

The systems we have used to organize our workloads are many and numerous including propriety case management systems, Outlook, MS Project Professional, our TRC Database and Retrieval System (Retired 2014), our newer MSG Database Management System, the AVEY Construct, paper and binder systems.  We wrote and implemented our first general ledger program in FORTRAN IV back in 1981.  In 1986 we wrote yet were unable to implement a Medical Records Program (MRP) for detecting and tracking the infiltration of pathogens in the Nicholas Turkey Breeding Farm’s Ranch Systems.  For documenting the unpredictable we take notes on paper and sometimes directly into records using MS Word and MS Excel.  The position with the County of Orange Health Care Agency (OCHCA) that we are now interested about and promoting is for a Housing Advisor on a Housing Advisory Board or HAB.  We have considerable experience with both harmonic living and pathological living.  Our vision is to promote and deliver “Better Beds Than Ever!”  A bed delivery system for which homeless in neighboring counties will migrate to the OC for “Real Help & Solutions”

Vision – Housing Issues are Resistant to Solution
If a consumer discovers they need a better bed in the morning they will find or be placed in a better bed by sundown the same day (1 Day Service Agreement -1DSA)).
-
Mission – Housing “Better Than Ever”
To discover and promote “Better Beds” with or without sitting on our proposed Housing Advisory Board (HAB) and leverage Information Technology (HABIT) to deliver on a constant stream of ever improving “Better Beds”.  Significantly reduce reliance on Transitional Institutions such as the Hospital and Jail for consumer transitioning into a “Better Bed”.  Changing priorities – After about a year of concentrating on Brand New Day (BND) we have decided for this Spring Quarter (2018) to flip back our focus on the County of Orange Health Care Agency (OCHCA).
