We asked: What does it feel like?
They said: You can't feel it
We thought people and dogs used variations on pop to feel better

Appendix – Content

RASR associated friends

On and off Keith “Buster” Torkelson has rented a shared room with people.  Here we feature a few of his friend in a shared room at UC Davis.  We consider his UC Davis shared room experiences as successes because he as well as his roommate accomplished what was needed.

Rent a Shared Room

On and off Buster has rented a shared room with behaviorally and physically disabled people.  For the most part this has been very challenging.  Buster is a specialist in and advocate for the Rent a Shared Room environment.

What Dad Said

While Buster still lived at home with his parents during high school his father George Gerald repeatedly said those Buster thought were friends now would not be friends when Buster grew up.  We defined friends as those you talked with on the telephone, rode in the same car, worked with, had adventures together and or had one-to-one conversations with.  Very few of Buster’s high school friends meet these criteria for friends.  Buster’ father was correct.

Social Life & Health Related Engagements

Well what is a study about friends without addressing COVID-19.  For us COVID-19 (Corona) started around March of 2020.  Buster’s social life has changed since the outbreak of Corona.  For one his aunt passed away from non-Corona related illness in December of 2020.  Most of his meetings were moved to Zoom type meetings.  He now calls his niece on the phone once per week.  His programs such as a clubhouse and a wellness center are literal ghost towns.  Overall he spends more time socializing.  Sometimes his dealings with people we refer to as Health Related Engagements (HREs).  Just this month (March 2022) he lost the first of his contemporaries about the cohort was call “The Block”.  The more Buster socializes the less writing he gets done.

FYI – “When was COVID-19 first reported?”

“On this website you can find information and guidance from WHO regarding the current outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) that was first reported from Wuhan, China, on 31 December 2019.”

Appendix - Honorable Mention - Feature MIA - Jessie Rodaf

Sometime about July 23, 2918 a kid named Jessie rented a shared room.  He acted up a bit and two men jumped and mashed him.  The man on top proceeded to punch him in the face two times.  Jessie’s nose was visibly broken when Buster took the picture.  Jessie was taken away by the police and we have never seen him again.  Jessie is a good example of one missing in action or MIA.  Obviously on that day Buster was Jessie only friend.
